“Some homes are purchased because they make financial sense. Others are chosen because they simply feel right.”

For years, Jonathan and I imagined what retirement might look like.

Not the kind where life slows down completely, but one where mornings begin with coffee on the balcony, afternoons are spent walking tree-lined streets, and evenings end over dinner with friends just minutes from home.

When we started searching for a condominium in Metro Manila, we weren’t just looking for square footage or amenities.

We were searching for a lifestyle.

Like many Overseas Filipinos, we had countless questions.

Should we live in BGC?

Rockwell?

Ortigas?

Or Makati?

Every neighborhood offered something different.

But Makati kept calling us back.

There is an elegance to Makati that doesn’t need to announce itself. It’s found in the quiet cafés tucked into Legazpi Village, the Saturday mornings at Salcedo Market, the afternoon walks beneath mature trees, and the unmistakable feeling that everything you need is only minutes away.

When we discovered Fortis Residences along Chino Roces Avenue, it wasn’t simply another property presentation.

It was the first place where we could genuinely picture ourselves living.

Not visiting.

Living.

What impressed us most wasn’t only the architecture or the amenities.

It was the thoughtful planning behind the community.

Generous open spaces.

Natural light.

Resort-inspired amenities.

A location that balances convenience with the comfort of coming home.

As someone passionate about design, I immediately began imagining the possibilities.

How could we transform a blank canvas into a Modern Filipino Luxe residence?

What materials would age gracefully?

How could every room tell a story?

Those questions eventually became The Fortis Residence Project—our ongoing design journal documenting the transformation of our condominium into the home we’ve always imagined.

Because, in many ways, Fortis Residences isn’t simply where we’ll retire.

It’s where our next chapter begins.

Perhaps that’s what makes choosing a home so personal.

Sometimes we’re not choosing a building.

We’re choosing the life we hope to live inside it.

And I couldn’t help but wonder…

Maybe the perfect home isn’t the one with the most impressive amenities.

Maybe it’s the one that quietly feels like yours before you’ve even moved in.
